Under this first pillar, simple one-on-one assessments are conducted with children who are in primary 3 to 6. Assessments are done to understand whether the children have basic literacy and numeracy skills or not. This is essential to understand where to begin in aiding the children learn better. These assessments also help in grouping the children appropriately.
The assessment is not a one-off event. It is a process. It is therefore important to assess children’s progress periodically to understand their progress. Major assessments are done at designated periods once the programme commences; at the beginning, middle and end of the LRP lessons, – Baseline, Midline and Endline Assessments.
