During the Technical Workshop that held in March 2017, our Partnership Development Officer, Mr. Jamil Ango, spoke on building partnerships at the different levels. Following this, we
organized a roundtable meeting with northern stakeholders, considering that some of the scale-up states – Kano, Taraba, and Plateau – are located in the northern region of the country.
The reason we put this meeting together was to advocate for the support of the government officials in these states, bringing them on board as official partners; we discussed with key officials about the LEARNigeria programme, and the benefits to the Nigerian child.
Education Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries from Kano, Taraba, and Plateau attended the meeting. We also had experts from the National Population Commission, National Bureau of Statistics, and Federal Ministry of Education. Everyone at the meeting expressed excitement about the LEARNigeria. Citing this as a significant channel to improving the quality of learning, these stakeholders guranteed the team their support for the scale-up phase.
